BOSTON — The Infectious Diseases Society of America is focused on growing the ID workforce and increasing opportunities for its members, its new president told Healio at IDWeek.

“How do we keep a pipeline of excellent and diverse folks coming into our society and into our specialty?” Steven K. Schmitt, MD, FIDSA, vice chair of the department of infectious diseases at the Cleveland Clinic, asks in the above video.

Schmitt explained some of IDSA’s other goals, including efforts to help increase ID physician compensation and plans to attract more physicians to the specialty.
