THE latest business looking to find a home in Warrington is Hotpod Yoga, according to Warrington Borough Council’s planning portal.
Hotpod Yoga currently has more than 50 sites across Europe, making it the continent’s largest yoga business.
The site being eyed for the development is above Heavenly Desserts, and next to Burger King, on Bridge Street.
Planning permission has been applied for to convert the site from a never-before-used office block into a functioning yoga studio.
The studio would look to employ around three full-time staff, and five part-time staff for the site.
One of the developers of the site is no stranger to property in Warrington – Stuart Lawton.
Stuart is a co-owner of Toast and Toast Treats, both in Latchford.
The proposed development would see the office block – which has always been vacant – be converted into a Hotpod Yoga studio.
Included in the proposals are the studio’s planned opening times, which would see the studio be open from 6:30am until 9:30pm every day, including bank holidays.
The application documents state: “The hotpod creates an enclosed area able to retain a warm environment of approximately 37°C, which assists in warming muscles and aiding flexibility.
“The hotpod glows purple to enhance a calm mind, further emphasized by soundscapes of urban-chill beats.
“To help unwind the mind and awaken the senses, natural plant fragrances are infused into the hotpod.”
The developers added: “Classes will be available for people to access throughout the daytime, but also before and after work.”
Planning permission includes the provision to add shower and toilet facilities to the site, as there are currently no such facilities included in the property.
Documents say that the studio would be in keeping with its surroundings on the high street, saying: “The application site is within the main retail area of the town centre, which includes takeaway food outlets, open until 10pm.
“The use of the unit as a yoga studio would not be incongruous in this location and it would offer an additional recreational facility to encourage people to the town centre.”
This planning application is currently under consideration by Warrington Borough Council’s planning committee.
