The WHO issued a “call for experts” on Friday to join their new advisory group on emerging pathogens.

The International Scientific Advisory Group for Origins of Novel Pathogens (SAGO) “will play a decisive role in the next phase of studies on the origins of SARS-CoV-2 and the origins of future new pathogens,” WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, PhD, MSc, said last month when he announced the formation of the group.

The deadline for expressing interest in joining the group is September 10th. Instructions on how to apply and details on who are eligible can be found here.
The group will consist of up to 25 members with a wide range of expertise “to ensure a one-health approach,” said the WHO.
WHO encourages non-conflicting experts from more than 20 disciplines to apply, including in the fields of infectious disease epidemiology, medicine, virology, outbreak analysis, veterinary medicine and bacteriology.
Members will be selected by the end of September.
