Lenovo ThinkPad X12 Detachable and ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga business laptops launched at CES 2021

Lenovo’s ThinkPad laptops have always been the cream of the crop for business notebooks. At CES 2021, the company introduced the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga 2-in-1 and the Lenovo ThinkPad X12 Detachable. The brand claims that the former is the thinnest and lightest laptop yet at just 11mm thick and 1.2kg in weight. The latter is even thinner and lighter, but that doesn’t really count as the screen is detachable.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga, X12 Detachable Prices

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga will be available in retail stores 1,899 USD (1,39,048 Rs). The detachable Lenovo ThinkPad X12 isn’t too far off at $ 1,149 ($ 84,132). Unfortunately, the price of both notebooks in India will be much higher due to local taxes.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga Specifications

Like every other notebook presented at CES 2021, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga also features 11th generation Intel Tiger Lake vPro CPUs. Intel vPro processors are tailor-made for companies and have a large number of security functions that cannot be found in consumer variants. The laptop can be configured with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of solid-state storage. Since this is a business laptop, a dedicated graphics card cannot be added.

However, the screen of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga makes it something special. The 13.5-inch IPS LCD panel has a resolution of 2,556 x 1,540 (2K), an aspect ratio of 3: 2, a peak brightness of 450 nits and 100 percent coverage of the sRGB spectrum. Lenovo has managed to integrate all of these functions into a touch-enabled panel, which is very impressive.

The connectivity options of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga are a bit lacking. It only has two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack, so you have to rely on third-party Thunderbolt docks. Fortunately, with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and 5G, there are plenty of wireless connectivity options.

Lenovo ThinkPad X12 Detachable Specifications

The detachable Lenovo ThinkPad X12 has identical CPU, RAM and memory specifications as the ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga, i.e. Core i5 and Core i7 vPro processors, 16 GB RAM and 1 TB NVMe SSD. The laptop has a smaller 12.3-inch FHD + IPS LCD display with an aspect ratio of 3: 2 and a peak brightness of 400 nits. It is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Because of the compact form factor, the connectivity options are far fewer. All you get is a Thunderbolt port, a USB Type-C Gen 3.2 port, a nano SIM card slot, and a 3.5mm audio jack. While this may seem outrageously low, it’s a bit understandable considering the laptop has to work in tablet mode as well.
