SEATTLE — In this video, Jeanne M. Marrazzo, MD, MPH, director of the division of infectious diseases at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, talks about PrEP adherence and efficacy in cisgender women.

An analysis of data from more than 6,000 women collected over nearly a decade in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia found that for most, adherence declined over time.

“We obviously need other options for women who want to initiate PrEP — they’re really urgently needed,” said Marrazzo, an Infectious Disease News Editorial Board Member.
