Free digital course on detailed MRI techniques and analysis for multiple sclerosis
Today, the role of MRI in multiple sclerosis (MS) is well established. There is no denying the need for an MRI to make the diagnosis, assess the prognosis, and monitor complications with treatment. Although the skill and knowledge of qualitative neuroradiological metrics is increasing among neurologists interested in MS, there is still a need to foster a deeper understanding of the uses, limitations, and capabilities of this tool in order to improve the quality of care. In addition, quantitative MRI approaches (i.e., calculation of lesion load and brain volume), as well as advanced imaging techniques, but not diffusely applied in clinical settings, are widely used in research to improve quantification of prognosis and choice of the right treatment approach.
This program is aimed at young clinicians and scientists currently involved in MS management, as well as radiologists interested in MS.
The educational approach to academic seminars reinforces concepts from different angles and uses a multi-formatted, multidisciplinary and cross-professional approach to progressive learning and access to a network of experts. This digital learner-focused program aims to improve knowledge and skills in the field of imaging applied to MS.
This program covers the latest updates in quantitative and qualitative MRI techniques, as well as advanced imaging. A multidisciplinary approach is used which includes the full interactivity of the learner.
The digital preceptorship format was developed to cover both the theoretical and practical aspects of MRI in MS. This will be incorporated into the discussion of several clinical cases related to different aspects of the disease. Some of these clinical cases will guide participants to properly diagnose patients with an initial clinical attack by integrating clinical, laboratory, and MRI information. Others help identify red flags in a timely manner, which are useful in the differential diagnosis of MS facial expressions.
Finally, decision cases related to treatment monitoring and treatment change are presented.
- Identify the key MRI markers that correspond to a particular MS histopathological lesion.
- Define the key MRI metrics that will be used to estimate prognosis and assess treatment response.
- What are the advantages and disadvantages of the imaging techniques currently under development to study MS-related damage.
