On April 12th, the CDC and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America are jointly hosting Decennial Day, a one-day virtual program that focuses on healthcare epidemiology, infectious diseases, antimicrobial control, and infection prevention.

Decennial Day is a free program for the SHEA Spring Conference, which is practically April 13-16. Selected sessions of the 2020 Decennial Conference will be presented, which has been held every 10 years since 1970 but was canceled last year due to COVID-19.

“It is a time when we pause to acknowledge all advances in healthcare-related infections and antibiotic resistance – not just in the US but around the world,” said the editor of the Infectious Disease News Denise M. Cardo, MD, In this video, says the director of CDC’s department of quality promotion in health care.

“I am counting on all of you to not only listen, but also embrace the concepts for our future because that way we can define what is needed for the next 10 years and be part of the solution globally,” said Cardo.

A supplement containing abstracts to be presented at the Decennial Conference last year was published in Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology in October.
