Jefferson Health NJ’s bariatric surgery program receives the highest accolade as the Blue Distinction® Center for bariatric surgery
VOORHEES, NJ, Jan. 6, 2021 – Jefferson Health – New Jersey has been recognized as a Blue Distinction® Centers for Bariatric Surgery under the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association’s Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. Blue Distinction Centers are nationally designated healthcare institutions committed to high quality patient safety and better health outcomes based on objective measures developed with the involvement of the medical community and leading accreditation / quality organizations.
Jefferson Health – New Jersey – a participating facility in the New Jersey Network’s Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield – received this award for meeting the Blue Distinction Center’s rigorous quality selection criteria for bariatric surgery. To receive this award, a healthcare facility must demonstrate that it successfully complies with patient safety measures and bariatric quality measures, including complication and readmission rates for laparoscopic procedures for pod gastrectomy, gastric bypass, and adjustable gastric banding. All designated facilities must be nationally accredited at both facility and bariatric program level.
