We were easy to plug in and liked the bright, colorful display – the display on this model that felt significantly better than most of the others.
We were able to cut off the stats we didn’t want to see and at the end of each session a reminder of our previously recorded weight was shown with a note of each change.
Using these pre and post runs was also useful for keeping track of hydration. It was motivating to see the ‘Last 7 Days’ view of the facts in the Garmin Connect app and to commit to the challenges of pedaling, running and swimming that came with it.

Fitbit Aria Air Scale

This basic scale is available at a bargain price, but you won’t get the body composition information of more expensive models. If you already have a Fitbit, this is perfect.
If not, this is a good buy anyway as you don’t need to own a Fitbit device to connect. Just download the app and it will log and track your data via bluetooth every time you step on it.
We had a few teething problems with linking at first, but opening the app beforehand solved the problem – a lot of the others we tested use a Wi-Fi connection to automatically upload. Not this one.
The Aria’s minimal design was one of the simplest we’ve looked at with no fancy design elements, but this is a reliable, no-frills way to track weight over time.
